Joint conference on EU SD
On the 5-6 July the European Social Partners held a Joint Conference on "Promoting and reinforcing the EU social dialogue". The conference brought together speakers from national and European level social partner organisations, as well as representatives of member State Ministries and the European Commission
The conference objectives were:
- To promote and discuss the ongoing discussion on quadripartite document on a New Start on Social Dialogue, following on from the European Commission's initiative which was launched in March 2015 and the social partners' joint declaration finalised in January 2016;
- Follow-up to the work undertaken by the European social partners on promoting and supporting social dialogue, building on a series of cluster seminars involving national members from 16 countries;
- Discuss the implementation of the EU social dialogue agreements, with the input from experts who are examining the implementation in countries where a lack of or insufficient progress has been observed;
- Promote the latest European social dialogue outcomes on a broader range of issues, notably the joint statements presented at the Tripartite Social Summit on 16 March 2016 on the refugee crisis, digitalisation and on industrial policy.
- Stay informed about the ongoing negotiations and discussions at European level, activities on youth employment and apprenticeship.
