Joint Seminar 2013 Berlin

JOINT SEMINAR ON THE TRANSITION BETWEEN EDUCATION AND EMPLOYMENT

In their work programme 2012-2014, the European social partners decided to open a negotiation on a Framework of Actions on Youth Employment. In parallel, the European Commission launched its Youth Opportunities Initiative to identify concrete measures that can be put in place rapidly to ease young people´s transitions from education to employment and reduce youth unemployment.

The objectives were:

  • to organise exchanges of practices and measures between social partners regarding transitions with a focus on apprenticeship and dual learning systems
  • to allow mutual learning, aiming at facilitating the dissemination of information and exchanging examples of initiatives taken in different Member States.

METHODOLOGY

In order to allow mutual learning the EU social partners ran a two day seminar, aiming at facilitating the dissemination of information and exchanging examples of initiatives taken in different member states. This activity was directed at national employers and trade unions´ affiliates (30 from each side).

The seminar was structured around a company visit (Siemens), separate employers and trade unions´ group meetings and joint sessions.

The seminar took place on the 23rd and 24th May 2013 in Berlin.
