Apprenticeships

In their work programme 2012-2014, the European social partners decided to open a negotiation on a Framework of Actions on Youth Employment. In parallel, the European Commission launched its Youth Opportunities Initiative to identify concrete measures that can be put in place rapidly to ease young people´s transitions from education to employment and reduce youth unemployment.

Following up this work, in their 2015-2017 Work Programme the social partners agreed to continue their focus on apprenticeships and their role in increasing youth employment and mobility of apprentices across Europe.

To support these aims, various activities have been organised.
  • Apprenticeship Seminar in Berlin 2013
  • Apprenticeship Project 2014-2016
